On June 30, 2010, A Place for Women opened its doors, offering women of all ages a safe and supportive environment where they can seek information on the myriad of matters surrounding pregnancy and other women's issues.

While not a medical facility, the center exists to provide women with a line-up of support services such as free pregnancy testing, pregnancy counseling, adoption referrals, abstinence education, post-abortive recovery classes, and more. The center is run by trained volunteers and is located on the second floor of Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor (CCPH) in the Waipio Shopping Center. Services are provided free of charge and by appointment.

"What we offer is a place for women to rest their hearts,” said Sue Skinner, visionary and founder of A Place for Women, and wife of CCPH pastor Derald Skinner. “When they arrive at the center in crisis, they are so afraid. They don’t need judgment— just caring and the truth,” she added. The center’s 900-square-foot, second floor location does, indeed, exude a peaceful-calm. With its warm and welcoming décor, the center features several quiet meeting rooms designed to feel more like a friend’s living room as an alternative to the traditional doctor or clinical setting.
